In praise of Fox’s Red Eye

Filed under: media — Ken @ 9:35 am

As any long-time reader of this blog would know, I have been frustrated with the coverage of the house fire in Tennessee – AKA The $75 House Fire, but Fox’s Red Eye got it right… Eventually.

I’ve never watched Red Eye before (aside from a few snippets here and there), but last week I decided to record an episode and see what I was missing. In short, it’s not my kind of show. Red Eye is a panel show with minor celebrities and comedians discussing the news of the day in a humorous way – which they do well, but the thing that stands out is the so-called “Half-time Report” where a reporter comes on and corrects the factual error made by the guests/host in the first half of the show, again with humor (as warranted) – that is the secret sauce that makes the show special.
