An Isolated Incident

Filed under: In The News — Ken @ 6:03 pm

One Detroit city bus driver is very happy to be a union employee, it seems, as his union is defending him keeping his job after he gave his “lady friend” a special ride on his bus. It’s not like he got off completely, he’ll be back behind the wheel in 30 days, after his suspension is completed…

In Michigan, as in most states, it is now illegal to “text” while driving. It is considered a “primary offense” meaning an officer can pull a driver over for nothing more than seeing a driver texting while driving. The penalty for “texting” while driving is $100 for the first offense, $200 for subsequent offenses – with all proceeds benefiting public libraries in Michigan. Don’t worry though – it won’t add any “points” to the driver’s record.

I wonder what would have happened if the “lady friend” was “texting” while enjoying ride in the bus driver’s lap…
