Well, the excitement in Wisconsin has just ratcheted up a notch – seems all the democrat state legislators have decided to “get out of Dodge” and try and protect the state union workers from the fiscal reality their state is facing. Like a little child hiding to avoid a spanking, every democrat legislators reportedly boarded a bus and headed out of state, to prevent the legislature from passing the Governor’s bill that would redefine the relationship and bargaining rights of the state workers.
But this is nothing new.
Back in 2003 the Texas State Legislature was brought to a screeching halt when every democratic legislator left the state to avoid being arrested by the Texas Rangers – seems the Democrats didn’t like the redistricting plan the Republican Majority wanted to implement, so they simply ran away, denying the legislature the quorum it needed to move forward on redistricting or any other legislation.
I can’t wait to hear how running away and hiding was a brave move on the part of the democratic legislators…
